CA2950 Taking and Defending an Effective Deposition

Conduct your next deposition with confidence

Depositions are a valuable tool to aid in your search for the truth. It’s your opportunity to learn more about your case, gain admissions, and follow up on new information. Andrew Erlandson, a shareholder with Hurley Burish, S.C. in Madison, will walk you through important considerations when taking or defending your next deposition. Gain insight to manage the examination and exhibits, with special attention to handling difficult witnesses, difficult opposing counsel, and deposition defense. He’ll also teach you what to do in tricky situations, including:

  • Protecting your witness when the examination crosses the line
  • Making correct and proper objections
  • Responding when opposing counsel mischaracterizes your client’s testimony
  • Navigating privilege issues
  • Deciding whether or not the issue requires you to call the court

Maintain professionalism in depositions and learn tools for dealing with difficult opposing counsel.
